This past July the Kay Meek Arts Centre announced a lead gift of $400,000 from PARC Retirement Living for its capital campaign. This significant gift kick-started the public fundraising for Kay Meek’s capital campaign. Funds raised will allow Kay Meek to undertake important upgrades to improve the Centre’s accessibility and audience experience, creating a safer and more inclusive venue for performers and members of the public. In recognition of PARC’s donation, the main level lobby area which connects the public areas and amenities of the Arts Centre will be named the PARC Retirement Living Atrium.

The leadership shown by Rainer Müller, PARC’s Owner and Founder inspired others in the community and as of September 2019, Kay Meek has raised over $400,000 in individual gifts. The organization is now 70% of the way to achieving its goal of $4 million.

“We’re proud to support community initiatives that enable seniors and their families to fully participate and enjoy the arts.” says Rainer Müller, owner and founder of PARC Retirement Living. “It’s vital that seniors continue to live enriched, full lives after they move into one of our residences, and enjoying arts and culture is a big part of that. As such, we encourage our residents to participate in on-site art activities and attend off-site events – such as a theatre, music or dance performance at the Kay Meek Arts Centre.”

PARC’s support for Kay Meek’s programs and productions has been on-going since 2011, as both organizations strongly believe in the power of arts and culture in the community. Art sparks thought and conversation, provides purpose and meaning, nurtures intergenerational relationships and leaves a lasting legacy.

Along with their gift of $400,000 toward the capital campaign, PARC continues to support Kay Meek’s operations with ongoing sponsorship of four performances in the 2019/20 Season. Their sponsorship not only provides necessary support to the organization’s annual budget, but gives the residents at Westerleigh PARC the opportunity to participate in the cultural community in which they live.

Betsy Gibbons, chair of the Kay Meek board of directors lauded the outstanding new gift. “PARC Retirement Living and their founder, Rainer Müller, are true community partners. In addition to their sponsorship of the Kay Meek Arts Centre’s season programs, they have shown outstanding leadership with this significant gift toward vital facility upgrades.”
